First, let me tell you how much I LOVE interactive science notebooks!!! I use so many resources from The Science Penguin that my kids know that name by memory. If you've never been to her blog or TPT shop, you really should. Now that I've been using ISN I don't know how I could go back to my old system of "read the book and take the test". She has something for everyone and I can't wait to try her Science Weekly Five next year.
Being a teacher in Florida, my standards are a little different. One area where I needed a little more for my notebooks was with motion and speed. I still wanted my kids to add it to their notes so I made up my own note-taker, task, and experiment. After doing it all with my kids I decided that I loved it so much that I would give it to some of my facebook fans for free!
Here are my definitions, but you can change them to meet your needs/standards.
In the task, students must use their knowledge of fact families to find the distance a truck travels.
In the experiment, students measure the distance and time it takes for a car to go down ramps at various heights, and use that knowledge to find the speed. This also requires a little long division on their part as well.
All you have to do to get this freebie is become a facebook fan, click on:
Hope you like it!!!
